- Запознай кучето си с кликера
- Приготви лакомства или гранули храна за награди, както и кликера. Отидете на тихо място или в стая, където няма разсейващи фактори.
- Като начало дръж лакомство в едната ръка и кликера в другата, щракни скликера веднъж и веднага дай лакомство на твоето куче.

2. Тествай кучето

3. Кликер за обучение на команди
- Фокусирай се върху действието, което искаш твоето куче да направи - например да легне. Веднага щом кучето легне, щракни и дай лакомство. Моментът на кликване (щракане) е изключително важен, той трябва да е по време на изпълнение на желаното поведение.
- Повтаряйте упражнението няколко пъти в кратки сесии за няколко дни. Кучето много бързо ще направи връзката между желаното действие, щракването и лакомството.
- Добави гласови команди
- Кажи командата и когато кучето я изпълни, щракни и награди. Награждавай всеки път.
- Не щракайте и не награждавайте, ако кучето не изпълни коректно командата.
- Когато кучето овладее командата може понякога да не даваш лакомстваслед кликване, но гледай да е рядко и да бъде заместено с ентусиазирана похвала. Също така можеш да започнеш да използваш и друг маркер за правилно поведение – Ентусиазираното „Да!“ след време може да заместищракването на кликера.
- Продължавай с похвалите
- Окуражаващите похвали са също много желани като награда за кучето. Редувайте похвалите и лакомствата или използвайте и двете при награждаването на доброто поведение.
Най-важното за успешно обучение с кликер:
- Моментът е най-важен - Важно е кучето да разбира поведението, което се възнаграждава. Опитай се да щракнеш по време на правилното поведение, и дай лакомството веднага след щракването с кликера.
- Награждавай всеки път - В ранните етапи на обучение всяко щракване трябва да е гарантирано лакомство, т.е. дори да щракнеш по грешка, то пак дай веднага лакомство на кучето си.
- Щракай веднъж - За маркиране на правилното поведение щракай веднъж. Ако искаш да изразиш специален ентусиазъм, то е по-добре да увеличиш броя на лакомствата, а не броя на щракванията. И, разбира се, ентусиазирано да похвалиш кучето си.
- Обучавай в кратки сесии – Научава се много по-лесно при кратки тренировъчни сесии от по пет минути всяка, отколкото за един час повторения. Много добрирезултати може да има, ако използвате по няколко щраквания на ден тук-там в обичайната си рутина.
- Награждавай и с похвала и любов – Кучето има нужда от одобрение и поощрение от собственика си. Това ще помогне и ако кучето ти не се стимулира от храна и лакомства. В допълнение, ако обучаваш трикове за по-напреднали, то ще имаш нужда от много прецизна координация между ръцете и очите и пълно внимание, за да щракнеш кликера в точното време. Ако не успяваш да кликнеш навреме това може да обърка кучето и обучението няма да е ефективно.

След като кучето ти започне да отговоря винаги само на словесната команда, е време да премахнеш кликера и да разредиш драстично лакомствата. Не забравяй да поощряваш и да хвалиш доброто поведение.
